We are thrilled to announce that our very own network council chair, Margaret Ashida, has been selected as the new STEMx™ director.
“We couldn’t be happier to have Margaret join us at the STEMx™ network. She brings with her a wealth of experience in STEM that will help put the network on a path toward incredible impact and growth,” said Eric Fingerhut, Vice President of Education & STEM Learning at Battelle.
Ashida most recently served as Director of the Empire State STEM Learning Network at the State University of New York. In that role, Ashida provided key input for the early development of the STEMx™ network, helping to tackle challenges and forge consensus among member states.
“As a state STEM network leader and chair of the STEMx™ Network Council, it has been exciting to participate in the growth of the STEMx™ network from concept to reality over the last several years,” Ashida said. “The STEMx™ is a unique community that enables states to work hand-in-hand to impact STEM education and workforce development. I am thrilled by the opportunity to now advance this work as the network’s first dedicated manager.”
Previously an executive at IBM, Ashida’s experience includes worldwide leadership in diversity and workforce management, university relations and recruiting, collaborative innovation, e-business transformation and operations in marketing and finance. She earned a B.A. from the University of Rochester and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
