Network: Ohio STEM Learning Network

Purpose: The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is an example of how a state network can contract with a state Department of Education to manage the certification of STEM schools.

Usage: The Ohio STEM Learning Network used the MOU to define its and the Department of Education’s role in Ohio STEM school designation process.  The MOU has been shared with the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network. TSIN used the MOU to inform its work with the Tennessee Department of Education to develop a STEM school certification process.

Impacts: The MOU is the foundation of a long-standing relationship between ODE and Battelle/OSLN. Through the MOU, OSLN has overseen the STEM school certification process for more than five years.

Prior research or grounding:  The MOU is grounded in Battelle’s expertise in partnering with key stakeholders to realize sustainable partnerships that drive progress in science and technology and STEM education.
